"Morbo" is a frenetic film built from AI-generated imagery, journeying through a city's streets where celebration and chaos, love and violence, sit side by side. Set to an original urban soundtrack, it confronts the blurred lines between order and collapse, asking what it means to be human in a world where conflict is scrolled past and reduced to likes.
/Describe reimagines vintage postcards through AI. Original images were fed into Midjourney to generate text descriptions, which were then used to recreate new versions of the scenes. The AI-generated prompt was handwritten on the back of each postcard — the space once reserved for personal travel notes — creating a triptych of original image, prompt, and AI reinterpretation that reveals the gaps and distortions in how machines "see" and describe
Through a selection of images from Google Earth and Street View, the film "Algures" portrays the present day. The search for images emerged organically. During each trip made through the virtual platforms, Jonas Sanson realized that different places, however distinct and distant, were connected by common scenes of everyday life. The research featured more than 2,500 screenshots presented together with the track "O que vejo", from the Gumiber project, at a frenetic but harmonious pace. As we digest the abundance of stimuli, we lose sight of what's in front of us. The banal scenes that are daily repeated around the world come alive in this film when arranged in sequence. Attention calls for attention: we are everywhere, present nowhere. For a life that does not go unnoticed, you need eyes that not only see, but watch.
A series of AI-generated images based on everyday scenes observed but not photographed in the streets of Curitiba. Recreated in the aesthetic of Google Street View, the images simulate automated captures of moments that were never recorded, existing between memory, reconstruction, and document.
The performance took place during the exhibition Lapso, curated by Estilara and produced by Caroço Project at Casa Réstia. Jonas Sanson and Monica Hirano performed a live, silent correspondence built as a continuous cycle of writing and erasing. The action began with a simple gesture: a single sheet of paper receives a message written in pencil; it is folded, placed in an envelope, sealed, stamped, and handed to the other performer. The receiver opens the envelope, reads the message once, erases what was written with a rubber eraser, and writes back on the same sheet, keeping the conversation on the same support and repeating this back-and-forth movement. Through the repeated friction of the eraser, the sheet became increasingly worn, until it reached the material limit of the paper — which marked the end of the performance.
Frames from online videos, printed, placed inside physical picture frames and re-photographed as objects. The frame interrupts the flow of the feed and converts the frames into portraits. Scenes that are sometimes absurd, yet pass almost unnoticed while scrolling through social media, gain evidence within the confinement of the picture frame.
"Torre Arquivada" builds a panoptic tower out of books, turning a personal library — inherited from Monica Hirano's father — into a critique of education as an instrument of discipline and control. By reshaping obsolete print archives into rigid structure, the work confronts memory, accumulation, and the growing weight of digital waste behind our physical ruins.
